How this list is put together. Placement is decided by the offer an operator publishes for New Zealand, how long the site has been running and how widely New Zealand review sites cover it; we are paid by the operators listed, which is set out in our affiliate disclosure. Licences under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 are issued by the Department of Internal Affairs from 1 December 2026, so no site holds a New Zealand licence yet — the operators above hold offshore licences. Online casino play is for adults aged 20 and over. Free and confidential help is available from the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655.

Getting to Know the Developer: How does NextGen Work?
Despite having a wide reach globally as a NextGen casino provider, there is very little known about them. Lurking in the shadows of a business take-over, they sure do like to be mysterious as their games.
This is NextGen
It was founded in 1999 and have a successful spell on the market whilst it was in its infancy. Because of the work they produced they caught the attention of NYX Gaming, then a rival programmer and subsequently bought out and taken over. Cruel fate brought about karma and NYX where then taken over by global gaming giants SG Digital. They still provide a service under its own label and still produces games that still defy belief.
The takeover from SG Digital and NYX prior to them is why NextGen went so quiet. Instead, they let their games do the talking now.
